Desa productions present Sasha Krivtsov, a self-taught artist from St.Petersburg, Russia.

Born on June 6, 1967, Sasha started drawing at the age of five. As he grew older, he would visit his mom at the hospital where she worked, which gave him access to the experimental laboratories and morgue where he would do his drawings. The old Russian cemeteries were also one of his favorite spots to get away and devote himself to his sketches. It was at a cemetery that the Russian police arrested him, confiscated all his drawings and through the KGB committed him to six months in the “Bekhterev Mental Institution”. Upon his release, Sasha’s mother enrolled him in a local music school where he learned to play bass.

At the age of seventeen Sasha joined the most successful band in Russia and was touring continuously at home and abroad which gave him an opportunity to visit museums and experience international art. It was then that he could afford to start painting.

After living in Paris for a year, in 1991 Sasha moved to New York City and now resides in Los Angeles California. While he has much success musically with New Radicals and Billy Idol, he continues to paint.

In the United States and Russia, Sasha has held private shows and gallery exhibitions. His collection includes two hundred canvases and over five hundred sketches and drawings.
